Our Responsibility
Born in Copenhagen.
Shoes made to be worn. Better materials, honest partnerships, and a straightforward account of what we've got right and what we're still figuring out.
01 — Uppers
Tanned with tree extract, not chromium.
Our bio suede uses tannins from trees instead of chromium. It's also made from waste from the meat industry, giving a byproduct a second life. Fully biodegradable, gone within 30 to 50 days. Only a fraction of leather made today qualifies as bio leather. Ours does. Sourced from Spain.
02 — Uppers
Half new, half recycled.
Our cotton uppers blend 50% recycled and 50% new cotton. Not 100% recycled, because that's simply less durable. This blend lasts longer. Sourced from Spain.
03 — Soles
Tapped from trees, not cut down.
Our soles use natural rubber tapped from rubber trees. The outer sole, also called the foxing, is 100% natural rubber. The footbed is a blended mix for added durability. This is the traditional way of making vulcanized shoes.
04 — Lining
Recycled microfiber, naturally fresh.
Our inner lining is made from recycled materials with natural antibacterial properties. Sourced from Spain.
05 / 06 — Footbed & Laces
Recycled foam. Organic laces.
Our footbed uses recycled foam from Arne Plant, the kind of cushioning you'd find in a running shoe. Our laces are organic cotton. Sourced from Spain.
Still Improving
Not everything is perfect yet.
Some components are still conventional, mostly stretch parts where sustainable alternatives don't yet meet our standards. We keep testing and developing as better options become available.
Manufacturing
Made in Romania, by hand.
All our shoes are made in Romania, handcrafted at a facility certified ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 since 2004. Independently audited by QIMA and ICS. Living wages verified, not just the legal minimum. No forced or child labour.
Packaging
Plastic-free. All of it.
Recycled cardboard, recycled paper tissue, paper tape. No poly bags, ever. We're also a member of 1% for the Planet.
Longevity
The greenest shoe is the one you keep.
Durable construction, materials that age well, and repair when you need it.
Questions
Things people ask us.
Sustainability and fashion are a somewhat tricky combination. Even though this industry is one of the most harmful for our planet, it also holds enormous power to connect people and create cohesion across cultures, gender orientation and religion.
